Every Brussels resident who uses energy from the Brussels electricity and gas network pays a contribution for public service missions (MSP or OSP) through distribution tariffs.
This contribution is used to finance the regional policy on energy efficiency, including:
- Energy grants
- Management of green certificates
- Operating costs of the Brussels regulator Brugel.
This contribution is fully allocated to the Region.
Electricity OSP Contribution
The contribution is calculated based on the power of your connection, expressed in kVA.
Attention: High-voltage professional customers can make an annual announcement to modify their available power.
Announcement for 2026
High-voltage professional customers have until the end of June 2025 to make an announcement to modify the available power for the year 2026.

Gas OSP Contribution
The contribution price depends on the maximum flow rate of the gas meter, expressed in cubic meters per hour (m³/h). Below is a list of the most common types of meters and their respective flow rates.

A consumption of less than 5,000 kWh/year of gas, for example, applies to gas cooking use.
(2) Standard meter for residential customers.
A consumption of more than 5,000 kWh/year, for example, applies in the case of gas heating.
