The roll-out of on-street charging is picking up speed

The Brussels-Capital Region is taking an important step in the growth of its public charging network for electric vehicles.

The goal: 4,000 roadside charging points by June 2025

Brussels has just reached the milestone of 3,000 on-street charging points. This is a significant achievement that marks the Region's commitment to the transition to electric mobility. By mid-2025, 1,000 additional charging points will enhance the urban network, supplementing the 3,800 stations already available on private or semi-public land.

Ambitious regional objectives

As a reminder, the Brussels Government set itself the goal of installing 22,000 charging stations available to the public by 2035. As part of this goal:
•    11,000 on-street charging points will be installed, coordinated by Sibelga.
•    11,000 other points will be rolled out on private and semi-public land by other stakeholders.

A growing infrastructure

Since 2022, Sibelga has been actively investing in installing on-street charging stations, in collaboration with public, private and academic players. Today, this expanding network enables every customer in Brussels to find a charging solution within 150 metres of their home or place of work.

Innovative solutions for an optimised network

To ensure an optimal network, Sibelga is constantly analysing charging station usage in order to adapt the installations to the actual needs of those living in and visiting the capital. At the same time, innovative solutions, such as stations installed on public lamp posts, are being put into place.

📢 An ongoing effort: to meet the ever-growing demand, the public charging infrastructure must continue to grow.
